Wedding RSVP’s: to follow up, or not to follow up? That is the question.

As a wedding entertainer I
am privileged to what goes on behind the scenes at weddings. Which is kind of like working at a Reality show.
I like to share what I observe at weddings and give brides tricks and tips.
Last night I was on a wedding message board and a bride asked the following question about rsvps:
“My RSVP's are due next Saturday and we still have 74 people who have not RSVP'ed.
I sent out a reminder text last week due to many guests saying they never received an invite, only the save the date.
Do people normally RSVP right before the deadline? Or should I expect that most people won't RSVP?
I personally feel like I shouldn't have to follow up with adults. It's rude that people can't give the decent courtesy to decline if they know they cant make it.”

After what happen at a recent wedding I figured I should reply. Here’s what I said:
“I would follow up. Here’s why.
I’m an entertainer (live caricaturist) and I recently worked at a wedding where 100 extra people showed up. You read that right.
A HUNDRED.
There wasn’t enough food. Wasn’t enough seating. I heard the bride and groom talking about it and wondering how this happened.
This is how it happened. No one followed up and they just assumed people wouldn’t come if they didn’t rsvp.
But they didn’t RSVP and came anyway!
Yes it’s rude. Yes it’s annoying. But ultimately it’s your day that will be ruined if a bunch of extra guests show up.”

Now I think the bride and groom still had a great day. But folks if you’re reading this and you’re a bride or groom - folllow up on those RSVP’s.
And if you’re someone who might attend a wedding, please - rsvp in a timely manner!
Brides to be are under so much pressure. I know, I work with them on a daily basis.
I love working with brides . Heres how hiring me to draw caricatures at your wedding can help you ease your stress:
You’ve heard it said laughter is the best medicine and it’s the truth.
Adding fun caricatures to your wedding will break the ice, ease family tensions, get people OFF THEIF PHONES, get introverts involved even if they don’t want to get drawn, and generally make the whole dynamic of your wedding more FUN.
One thing I offer is follow through. I check in with my brides several times before the weddding and make sure it’s more often as we get closer to the big day.
More than one bride has told me that I’m the vendor that checked in with them the most.
Brides are under enough stress. I help take it away by making the process of having me draw fun flattering caricatures at their wedding as hands off for them as possible.
For example I coordinate with your wedding planner and discuss where to put my stand. I coordinate with your designer to create a pretty backdrop for your caricatures.
Brides really appreciate that I know and understand all the details that go into making my portion of their wedding a success.
You can trust me to show up at your wedding no matter what and I offer you a money back guarantee if I don’t (but I’ve never had to give anyone’s money back becaus I always show up!)
I offer you a contract as a guarantee that I will show up to your wedding.
I have never missed a wedding in 26 years. Thats through sicknesses, pregnancies and deaths in the family. The show must go on and I do it with a smile.
I offer payment plans and don’t charge any extra for them. If you hire me early enough your payments might be as low as $100 a month. Which is a lot easier than a lump sum.
lastly, wedding planning can be so stressful. A lot of brides consider ditching their dream wedding altogether and eloping. Which would be so sad.
Instead, my caricature entertainment will make you fall in love with your wedding again.
Every time a bride hires me this is what I hear “I’m so excited to have you at my wedding!”
I’m excited too! Because I know how much fun everyone is going to have at your wedding and I know your wedding will be a success because caricatures just have a way of doing that. I take no credit. It’s the medium itself that brings joy and laughter to weddings - and any other event.
I create FLATTERING caricatures that everyone will LOVE.
Trust me when I say that you don’t want anyone crying at your wedding reception.
If you’re been to my home page recent you’ve read the story about how I made a woman cry. If not you can go read it here
I promise not to make you or your guetss cry.
