This weekend was the first wedding I’ve ever worked at that I had to ask my husband’s permission to work at!
Not because my husband is a despot - far from it - but because it was on his birthday.
Not only that but it was one of the longest weddings I’ve worked at and was to last all day and late into the night, so we would miss most of his birthday together.
Mike my husband said to go ahead, “we will celebrate the next day. It’s just a day, “ he said.
So I took the wedding.
The bride never knew.
This is just one of the ways wedding vendors provide you service that people often don’t realize.
Event though I'm an Entertainer and it's technically not my job, I also helped set up the tables and the lighting and I worked 3:30-11pm (which was overtime but I’m not charging the bride extra for it) and I didn’t get to take one break not even to eat.
I overheard one of the vendors stating there were at least 300 people there - 100 more than were invited. No one seemed to know how that happened.
Yet everything worked out and everyone had a great time ❤️
I also wound up taking the getaway pics at the end since the photographers had already left.
Don’t get me wrong I love helping brides. It's why I chose to be primarily a wedding caricaturist.
But my point is without all of the vendors pulling together to help, huge events like this would be impossible to pull off.
This is what behind the scenes at weddings looks like.
And I’m just the caricaturist!
Imagine how much more the wedding planner, caterer, band, venue owners and other vendors all go through to make sure your wedding or other event runs smoothly.
This is why you pay top dollar for the best vendors. We are a team. Even when we dont know each other, when we work together towards the common goal of making your wedding the best it can be - the end result is synergy - an energy that is greater than the sum of its parts - and that's what this wedding had. Wedding Vendor Synergy.
We are all there to make sure your wedding or other event is ALL you dreamed about.
I actually consider it my ministry. ❤️
By the way, my hubby and I took the next day off and had some quality husband wife time exploring the city where the wedding was helped - Baton Rouge, LA, (Actually it was at the country club in Brusly LA) - and it was just what we needed ❤️ SO he got a rare treat for his birthday. Time without the kids.
PRICELESS.
